Newly, and tastefully, refurbished and re-opened in April 2008, the superior Avicenna Hotel is truly a delight. Not only does it offer a fantastic location in the heart of Old Sultanahmet (Istanbuls historic city centre), the Avicenna manages to combine Turkish influences with boutique-style individuality and contemporary amenities. In our opinion this is one of the nicest hotels we offer, not only in styling but also comfort and location. Being located no more than 200 metres from the Blue Mosque, many of Istanbuls major historical and cultural sights are within easy reach of the Avicenna; must-see attractions including Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Gulhane Park and the Basilica Cistern are all within a few minutes walk. Slightly further away, but still within walking distance, guests can easily reach the Grand Bazaar as well as the Spice Bazaar. Breakfast at the Avicenna is served buffet style and, as one guest described it, its a feast. Additionally, the hotel offers a welcoming yet intimate bar, a garden and fantastic views of the Marmara Sea from its open-air rooftop. Although the hotel does not have its own in-house restaurant, a whole array of various places to dine is literally around the corner from the hotel, and all serve excellent traditional Turkish cuisine (and we should know, weve tried them!)
